There is more to her than just single-track obsession acting. Imran Merchant on Deepti Naval and the TV serial ‘Thodasa Aasman’ her first attempt at direction.

Deepti Naval never fails to surprise me. Having known her for a fairly long time. I have kept discovering various aspects of her several creative and artistic pursuits, realizing single-track obsession with acting. But every time one thought that there could be really nothing more that just one, single person – no matter creative – could do, Deepti never failed to pull out just that one more creative rabbit out of her amazingly fertile mental hat: Now, she may be breaking new ground with “Thoda sa Aasman”, but knowing, Deepti, this is probably the first and not the last of several audio-visual explorations to come. And, so long as she maintains the minimum standard of excellence that is reflected in her other artistic output, Deepti’s arrival on the national network as a writer-director is more than welcome.
