ZEST
for LIFE
Kainaz Jussawalla
FROM holding exhibitions of
her paintings to publishing poetry and trekking the Himalayas,
Deepti Naval seems to have done it all. “I’m selective
about my projects. My next film is ‘Freaky Chakra’;
it is going to be aired at the ‘Bombay Film Festival’
this month. The role has to be one with some impact.”
You can’t miss the sparkle in her eyes each time she speaks
of her varied ventures. One of the most moving ones being a book
of poetry called “Silent Scream”, a collection of
twenty-three poems inspired by women in a mental ward; Deepti
actually stayed a few weeks in the hospital to get a feel of the
place. “My poems are just my way of creating awareness,
we can do so much for others.”
Recently she has also set up the ‘Vinod Pandit Charitable
Trust’ after her late love Vinod, in aid of educating the
girl child.
Whoever named her Deepti definitely knew what they were doing.
For this light not only glows but even seems to spread to a few
dark corners.
